The Hoodia plant has proved difficult to cultivate as it requires specific temperature and soil to grow. The plant is similar to cactus except that Hoodia is succulent while cactus is not. When it matures it sprouts pale purple flowers which indicate that the plant is ready for harvest. The Hoodia plant was recently discovered in Namibia as well.
