BUY HOODIA

A cynics view at Hoodia

After the discovery of the side effects from the ephedra based products and Phenfen it has become a common practice to question a product’s ability to reduce weight without compromising on a person’s health. People of the west quite commonly suffer from obesity. They are always in search for an easy way to solve this problem. People are not ready to spend hours for exercise or neither are they ready to follow a strict diet. Instead they want a “magic pill” which can reduce their weight. Hoodia may just provide them with exactly that. The critics find Hoodia as one of many weight loss products which has the potential to fight obesity. Products that contain ephedra and Phenfen have shown serious medical repercussions. It was found that such products increased the blood flow and the heart rate which often led to stroke and heart attacks. Therefore there is good reason behind all this criticism directed towards Hoodia and other supplements used for weight loss.

According to the skeptics Hoodia carries less scientific evidence than many of the other dietary supplements in the market. Much of the arguments used to support Hoodia are said to lack concrete proof. Hoodia plant grows in the Kalahari Desert in South Africa. It is similar in appearance to that of cactus as it is a member of succulent family of plants. The Hoodia is sold in various different forms most commonly as a power.

The cynics point out two major problems with Hoodia’s concept of weight loss. Firstly, claims that hoodia is an appetite suppressant are not supported by any scientific research or study. Many sites have claimed doing some private research but this type of research cannot be relied upon because the purpose behind it is to sell the Hoodia product. You must research these sites to find independent and legitimate proofs and testimonials to verify their claims.

Although there are more than thirteen different species of the Hoodia plant, only one of them, the Hoodia gordonii can help reduce weight. The hoodia plant only grows in the Kalahari Desert in South Africa. It requires specific climatic and environmental conditions for its growth which are not present anywhere else in the world. It matures only once every five years and it is quite difficult to grow.

Secondly, a reputed pharmaceutical company which had initially had the rights so as to create feasible weight loss product using Hoodia gave up on the project. They passed on their rights to a different company half way through its research. Had Hoodia indeed been of any use, then why would any company on earth have abandoned the project half way through?
Much of the proof associated with the use of Hoodia is based on speculations. If a reported eats the plant and says that they did not feel any hunger in the day, it cannot be classified as scientific evidence.
Similarly the stories of Sans Bushmen eating the plant before starting off on long journeys are just legends and folklores which have no scientific basis. It is worth remembering however, that what the Bushmen used to eat and the reporter ate was the ‘raw’ Hoodia freshly cut from the stem. Raw hoodia is considerably different from its processed form sold in the market.
The only real way of losing weight is by cutting down your daily caloric intake and doing regular exercise. As far as Hoodia goes, there is still no proper scientific evidence so as to verify its utility as an appetite suppressant to attain weight loss.
